Nightlife

The Bali nightlife starts rather late, usually around midnight. Most visitors wonder where packs of expats appear from 1 am in the morning – even when all Kuta places have been quiet during the evening, the many in-places often gets really busy after midnight.

Well, there’s a rather simple explanation: in the early evening hours, most of Bali’s night owls either still work, visit some mates or just sleep at home. Most of them start visiting pubs, clubs or discos only in the early morning. So if you wanna plan a night out, don’t start your dinner early. There aren’t many places worth checking out before midnight!

Visitors in need of a bit of company also don’t have to worry. Everywhere you go in Kuta and the Sanur area, there are always loads other single travellers with similar problems around. In Bali’s many discos, you’ll also meet many “night butterflies” aka working girls as well as young boys all competing for potential punters. All cabbies know the higher end karaoke bars and massage parlours in Denpasar and Kuta.

Prostitution in Bali and Indonesia in general is illegal but as with most countries, everybody just turns a blind eye. Loads of girls can be found in bars and nightclubs everywhere. They look pretty much like the girl next door, but with more make-on and they typically dress the please the eye. Generally speaking, they’re very gentle, easy to spend time with and quite a lot of fun if you fancy dancing, drinking and having a bit of fun. Most will be yours for between £5 and £50 depending on the season, time of night and the quality of service.
