Costs to Expect
Accommodation in most parts of Bali is reasonably priced in comparison to other exclusive tourist destinations across the world. Rooms in basic two-star hotels costs just under £10 and provide most basic services. At the high end, you can try the Four Seasons, St Regis etc. for about £400-£600 per night.
Private villa rental is also becoming increasingly popular in Bali. Prices for fully staffed staffed villas in Bali are less than half those elsewhere, be it the Caribbean or Europe. Plus Bali villas offer friendly staff and exceptional service, often absent elswhere.
Transport in Bali is always very cheap by any standard. The metered taxis start with a flag fall of 20p plus 15p per kilometre and most trips cost no more than £2. By far the most polite and reliable are the drivers of blue cabs and you should always avoid the others as they very often use their self-made meter and overcharge foreign tourists.
